In software development/computer programming, there is a term "unit testing". When making a change in anyway, it is tested in a seperate, safe environment. This way, if it doesn't work, there won't be any major consequences to the current, working, application. After, it is unit tested, it goes through "integration testing" where it is combining the new in the old environment and making sure everything works out.
I see that as a goal in this next year of being out. Only Freddy, has been able to be in the same room with me and my roommates or any other straight friends, in a semi-planned way. It would be a goal to at least give people the chance to mix groups. My birthday would have been the perfect opportunity, but that barely even worked out for just the gay friends. I see that this can change, probably starting with work friends and roommates. Then maybe, being proactive and somehow finding an equally "comfortable" occassion, so we'll see.
Either way, I'm looking to continue on this road to integration and being more and more comfortable in my own skin, and in whatever environment I find myself in.
