People Change

This past week has been interesting, fun, eye-opening and thought provoking. I got to hang out with, see and converse with different friends and people. These interactions have definitely made me think and realize how people and friendships change. Some friends have grown closer, some friends have been drifting away, and other are in this in-between state. So I'm in this stage of trying to figure out the best way to go on to the next steps. I tend to value anyone I call a friend, and sometimes don't know when/how/if to let go.

Last week, I saw a couple of friends for only a brief moment. I would have seen them longer but I wasn't aware or informed till it was too late. It really made me think, because I remember not-so-long-ago when I guess we were much closer, or at least communicated randomly. Now, I wonder about it often, and try to place my finger on what made things change. I know things in my life have made me change, and that may be part of the issue on my side, along with other things going on within me. But its just wierd, cuz although I know friends are worth fighting for, I also know that sometimes people just drift apart and its a fact of life.

In recent days, there have been other friendships that have measurably grown. People who around last year, I'd never have been around... I was able to hang with. It was good to see that some people do change-ish for the better. I've seen people become more receptive and understanding to the type of friend that I am, and the way I communicate(thank you faithful readers). I've also learned and tried to be more receptive to their differences and practicing other's forms of communication. I konw there is more work to be done, but I'm glad to see that I and other's have made progress and its been good.

Lastly, there is these friends in a type of purgatory. Its like I see the friends that we used to be, and the reasons for why were friends to being with. Then, I see the friends that we are currently. And I guess, there are or may be unresolved issues in between. They may be in my mind, in the other person's, or between both of us. But it seems/feels like they are there, and it makes me wonder "whats next?" I'm not the most confrontational person, so more times than not, I'd just go on business-as-usual and let things be. However, I'm seeing that, that is no solution. It just puts off the inevitable, and/or lets things build up until something happens where both parties are forced to deal with it.

So all in all, I guess some friends may be leaving, other may be coming closer, and others can go either way. I just have to be honest and open with things. In the upcoming days/weeks, I'll just have to proactively go about making up for lost time with certain people and/or proactively start a conversation with some others and most importantly cherish the good friendships that I know I have.
