I did it. I followed through with my goal, and made it a day to remember. I told the one roommate I was gay. And introduced him to some of my gay friends. I'm guessing it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Especially because in recent months, I've been "buttering him up" to the idea. Giving him reason and slight evidence to draw the gay conclusion. Here's his response to the letter:
"I wondered when you were going to do this. I thought later than sooner... But i've known you as a friend for a pretty long while.. so i don't see myself changing how i act towards u... or anything changing between us... or anything changing at all... business as usual... do u son.
Speaking of business as usual...Aint trying to cramp your style or nothing. but ive been feeling the "out of sight" thing... i assume uve been feeling it too judging by your choice of tonight... but yeah.. have fun son!"
I'm not exactly sure of what the "out of sight:" reference means, but in time. I"ll reply and ask for more detail. And the housewarming went pretty well. Out of the close friends, Freddy was the only missing person. But I"m glad of how it went. And it may be the first of many gay and/or mixed nights at the new place. As I step further out of the closet, I am looking forward to the new experiences that life will offer.
