Now Press Repeat

So Justin and I have been on hiatus for little bit. It wasn't a communal decision, it kindah just happened and each for distinct reasons. Hopefully, we'll get back and up and blogging. But for now, here's a little jam I discovered from Travis while driving up to the beach this weekend. I don't know how long its been out or much of anything about the song or its singer actually. What I do know is that like its title, it makes me want to get up and just dance!!! Again, I hope our lil blogging break may be over soon, I've been extremely busy with Costa Rica, work and the beach. I'll post pics and stories and so much more soon.

A Success Story

The other saturday after hanging out with Sam, and before meeting up with Matt and Tim, I was bored and walking round 17th street. While walking I bumped into Dale, a 34 yr old guy I met a couple times at the Young Gay Professionals meetup group. He was at Jack's and eating with his asian friend, Peter. I decided to hang with them and just take it easy. We ended up walking to his friends house nearby.
As I entered the house, I was instantly amazed. It was awesome. Like everything just went and it was just so well done. And although my house will never look like that, it did give me ideas of how my house will look. There was a Buddhist theme, you could say. But while there, Dale made us drinks, and we hung out and chilled for around an hour. He showed us pictures of him and his partners travels and talked about stuff. His partner was an interior designer, which made me understand why their house looked so awesome. Here are some of the major highlights:
They redid their basement, by dropping it four feet, adding a second stairway/exit to the kitchen. That's an idea, which I never would have thought, but it definitely something I can think about for my future pad.
Second, their backyard... WOW! To see what it had compared with what's probably around them, it was cool. In the middle, there was like a pebble pit, with a table and chairs to hang out. There was also a fountain structure, against the fence, and it had a Buddha structure on it.
The first floor had a pretty modern kitchen. Big fish tank, japanese style lights, and a huge Buddha head(which was lined up with the Buddha on the fountain in the backyard). They also had random artwork, and things that just fit.
The buddhist theme continued onto upstairs. There were mini statues in the guest bedroom, along with a fake(??) fireplace, flat screen TV, and impressive artwork. There was also a nice view of the backyard/fountain from there. The main bathroom had to entryways, one to the hallway and the other to the master bedroom. In their bedroom, there was a real gong. Like Asian palace, gong. It was definitely a well done house.
It wasn't just the physical aspect of the house, but also the relationship. So the guy I met was 30somethin Peter. Accomplished Asian scientist, travels for work and pleasure. Has a technical mind, in charge of people and teams for work, low key, non-drinking guy. His partner, I'm inferring, was around the same age, black, interior designer. More of a creative type, and did most of the work into setting up the house as it is. He does drink, but it seems they mesh very well together. Both are accomplished people and are just at an awesome place in life. They moved to DC together from NYC, 7 years ago. So who knows how long they've been together.
It was the first real gay success story, I've ever seen in person. And it truly showed some light, at the end of the tunnel. Now I have a little more evidence, or maybe even "role models", that I can aspire to be like. in 5 - 10 years.
