Belated Birthday Week Post

Last year, I was extra optimistic about my birthday, writing pre-bday blogs and attempting to plan a number of things, which had varying degrees of success. This year, I was much more realistic and pragmatic. I only sorta planned one main thing (scavenger hunt) after thinking up the idea with a friend. That didn't happen, but it was still a fun week.

Tuesday/Wednesday - Me and Kevin and his roommates and another guy, went to Rehoboth. It was good beach weather, and pretty good company. It was a good change of pace and scenery, and even more awesome that it wasn't work. Staying there for the night, helped make it easier to have one night of going out, and all in all it was really fun. We eventually made it back Thursday around 3 am.

Thursday - Since Sean/Grant and a few others weren't going to make it to the weekend, I decided that we could do birthday eve Freddie's night, and continue that tradition. Plus, it could get some of the other VA people out, potentially. However, because I could no longer crash in Crystal city... it meant that I would have to somehow get back to DC, in order to get home. So the plan was Freddie's from 8:30 to 11ish, then DC, which would enable me to actually get home afterwards.

I headed home after work to change, nap and figure things out (hopefully). I ended up playing video games with one roommate, and randomly the other came home and actually had a free night. They ended up going to eat/hangout/chill and invited, I was truly tempted to do that instead. I hadn't gotten any confirmation from most people, and I could actually allow my roommates to share in celebrating my birthday. But since I made the Freddie's plan, and at least Sam and Ian were definites... I let the roommates go on without me. After they left I was somewhat tired and still unmotivated to go out, but I slowly got ready to go out. Since people had responded saying they couldn't make it, if the responded at all, I figured just to do DC, since Me, Sam and Ian tend to do that often and it's easy for me.

As I continued getting ready and trying to motivate me, Tony texted me and he was gonna surprise me/us at Freddies, but it changed so I told him we'd meet up in DC. The only thing he forgot or didn't know is that I'm unable to be surprised, at least good surprises anyway. So I used the attempt at surprise to rush and get out the door, and hop on the 16th bus.

On the bus, one Kevin said he would have went to Freddie's and the other Kevin said he'd meet us in DC and that some of the real world people were reported to be going to Cobalt later. We started at Jr's for a little bit, then I said we should go to Halo since Tony and his friend were there. Kevin ended up meeting us there, and then we headed to Cobalt, which was way too packed since they were filming. Kevin got us drinks and shots, and I turned 23 at the stroke of midnight. After being there for a while, we sorta got seperated and eventually 4 of us headed down to Apex. Apex was cool, we mostly stayed in the video room and bumped into a couple other people. We left around 2, and after watching the last S2 pass from two blocks ovr, Kevin gave me a ride home. Not bad for the beginning of my bday weekend...
